Hello lovely people of earth! I have an amazing mid book review of Dissolving the ego realizing the Self by David R Hawkins.

This is some what along the thread of non duality teachers like Mooji, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Ramana Maharishi, and many others. The book centers around the idea that our sense of self which comprises our body/mind, cultural conditioning, belief systems and assumptive paradigms is illusory and highly fictitious and that there is something beyond all of that which is more solid and real. A Realization of the True Self beyond the definitions and constructs of mind in the world of form. This book is a collection of bite sized consciousness expanding truths that begin to awaken the observer and the journey of self inquiry so that we discover more and more what it is we truly are as opposed to what it is we think we are.

I am going to post a few quotes and ensuing thoughts on them.

“The ego fears dissolution and therefor resists giving up the illusion of a separate existence in an imaginary “here” and an imaginary “now”. It fears it will dissolve into being nothing , and consequently the conscious awareness will also cease. With examination, it will become clear that one’s reality is not a “who” at all, but instead is an intense loving Allness, which is realized and known to be much closer and more comforting and fulfilling than the prior sense of “I.”

I have experienced glimpses of something like this in moments following a lengthy mediation practice and moments of crystal clear neutral awareness. When I operate from this state I can sense an immersive experience of present-ness that surpasses everything the mind can drum up or imagine.

“Consciousness research confirms that approximately 99 percent of the “mind” is silent and only 1 percent is processing images. The observer self is actually hypnotized by that 1 percent of activity and identifies with it as “me”- it is oblivious to the silent 99 percent of the field because it is invisible and formless.”

I have had an experience of this and actually am able to do so deliberately everyday by choice. I use a technique created by Rob James the author of Self Discovery Life Mastery called P.M.A which is an acronym for Present Moment Awareness. Simplified, it is deliberately bring attention to the sense of sight, sound and touch with out judgment or definition to bring ones conscious awareness into the present moment and out of the mind. I have observed that I feel much more at home in the silence than I do with the chatty Cathy in my mind.

One more quote and we will move forward.

“The ego/mind presumes and is convinced that its perception and interpretation of life experiences are the “real” thing and therefore “true.” It also believes by projection that other people see, think, and feel the same way- if they do not, they are mistaken and therefore wrong. Thus, perception reinforces its hold by reification and presumption.”

I can pretty much sum this up in the old adage of “when you assume you make an ass out of u and me” Get it? Assume, Ass-U-Me? The truth is that the self that we think we are is NOT REAL! it’s a god damned illusion. This slowly withering carcass that we think is us and the automatic mind vomits it produces are not us. We are the infinite space, the nothingness that holds existence. The silence, the stillness the is-ness.

I learned a lot of this from a close friend of mine in Hollywood, Florida he recommended Self Discovery Life Mastery to me and David R Hawkins as well. I am eternally grateful. My life was saved from victim-hood mentality and depression and all sorts of other things as well.

Please keep in touch with me for conversations about this.
